Mary F. Schiavo is a member in the national law firm of Motley Rice, headquartered in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina since 2003. From 1997-2002, Schiavo was previously in private practice in Los Angeles, CA, Columbus, Ohio and Washington, D.C. and a professor of Public Policy and Aviation at The Ohio State University.
From 1990 to 1996, she was the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Transportation where she handled investigations, audits and oversight of federal transportation issues. From 1989 to 1990 she was an assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor, and from 1987-1988 she was a White House Fellow.
Schiavo was also a former assistant U.S. attorney, an organized crime prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice and author of the New York Times bestseller, Flying Blind, Flying Safe. She received her bachelor's degree with honors from Harvard University, her master's degree from The Ohio State University and her Juris Doctorate from New York University.
