The Gerstenslager Company, acquired in 1997, is the leading independent supplier of past model service stampings to major automakers. The company is ISO/TS 16949: 2000 certified.
Gerstenslager's two stamping facilities are located in Wooster, Ohio, 55 miles south of Cleveland and a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Clyde, Ohio, 33 miles southeast of Toledo.

Gerstenslager provides services including: stamping, blanking, assembly, painting, packaging, warehousing and distribution to customers in the automotive industry including General Motors, Ford, Navistar, Chrysler, Freightliner, Mitsubishi, Honda, Nissan and Isuzu.
Our Capabilities
Program Integration
Gerstenslager will manage the integration of an entire vehicle in its transition from the production environment to past model sales and service, including Class A surface parts, complex sub-assemblies and low-volume demands.
We manage 30,000 dies, assembly fixtures, checking fixtures and unique shipping containers used in producing more than 3,000 finished parts.
Blanking and Stamping Facilities
- Three blanking presses with a 40,000 pound coil capacity and a maximum coil width of 72 inches
- Blank washing
- Die cleaning and maintenance cells in each stamping facility
- Fifteen major press lines
- More than 110 presses with tonnages from 70 to 3,250 and bed sizes from 84" to 180" wide
- Double action or air cushion draw presses in most lines
- Support equipment including extractors, decoilers, blank feeders, and scrap removal
- 140,000 sq. ft. of inside die storage facilities
Assembly
Gerstenslager has the capability to manufacture small, simple assemblies to large, complex assemblies. Assembly work cells utilize robotic and manual spot welding, as well as projection and mig welding. To support these processes we design and manufacture custom welders, fixtures and assembly equipment. Gerstenslager is also experienced in the application of mastics and adhesives and has developed a highly innovative robotic hemming process.
Cathodic Electrodeposition Prime Finishing
In an effort to combat corrosion problems in the industry, we were one of the first companies to install a Cathodic Electrodeposition Prime Painting System, which provides:
- High-quality corrosion resistance
- Controllable paint film thickness on metal substrates to 1.50 mil
- Ability to adhere to most metal substrates
- Accommodates part sizes up to 72" x 36" x 152"
- Capability to prime wide variety of parts simultaneously
- On-site test laboratory and salt spray testing
Warehousing, Packaging and Shipping
Gerstenslager has approximately 500,000 square feet available for short or long-term warehousing. Parts are packaged to customer specifications. For shipping purposes, we operate 24 hours a day with 39 truck docks and six rail sidings. Our EDI capabilities ensure timely processing of customer orders.
Engineering Services
In-house designers and engineers design, build and test new manufacturing processes and adapt high volume production processes to lower volume past model solutions. Gerstenslager is equipped to take advantage of data generated by most major CAD systems. This team can also provide design and development support for new tooling projects.
