A key part of Worthington's focus on steel and metals-related businesses, our 11 joint ventures contribute through earnings growth, geographic expansion and product diversity. We have established joint ventures that enable us to enter new markets while sharing resources, operating expenses and risk.



ArtiFlex Manufacturing

Formed in 2011, ArtiFlex Manufacturing is a joint venture with Worthington’s automotive stamping company and International Tooling Solutions that offers integrated solutions for engineering, tooling, stamping and assembly.  The company’s Ultra Low Volume Die and Assembly (ULVD/A) solution for low volume production is leading the company’s growth initiatives.  ArtiFlex has five locations in Frankfort, Ky., Grand Rapids, Mich., and Clyde and Wooster, Ohio. 

ClarkDietrich Building Systems

In 2011, ClarkWestern Building Systems and Dietrich Metal Framing combined to form ClarkDietrich Building Systems, a 25% Worthington owned joint venture that manufactures light-gauge metal framing and finishing products, systems and services for commercial and residential construction.  ClarkDietrich operates 13 facilities in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Ohio and Texas.

LEFCO Worthington

LEFCO Worthington is a joint venture between Worthington Steelpac Systems and LEFCO Industries, a minority business enterprise (MBE). Located in Cleveland, Ohio, the company manufactures engineered wooden crates, specialty pallets and steel racking systems.

Samuel Steel Pickling Company (SSPC)

Samuel Steel Pickling Company is a joint venture between Samuel, Son & Co., Limited and Worthington Steel with pickling operations in Cleveland and Twinsburg, Ohio. The two locations have the combined capacity to pickle 750,000 tons of steel per year and specialize in in-line slitting, side trimming, pickle dry, under winding and the application of dry lube coatings during the pickling process. 

Serviacero Worthington

Serviacero Worthington, a Worthington Industries-Serviacero Planos joint venture, was formed in 2007 and operates three steel service centers in Mexico, one in the Monterrey region of northern Mexico and two in central Mexico in Leon and Queretaro. Serviacero Worthington offers services such as slitting, pickling, multi-blanking and cutting-to-length to customers in a variety of industries including automotive, appliance, electronics and heavy equipment.

Spartan Steel Coating

Spartan Steel Coating is a joint venture with Severstal North America. Located in Monroe, Michigan, Spartan is capable of producing 600,000 tons annually of light gauge hot-dipped galvanized steel, primarily for value-added automotive applications. With its focus on coating light gauge cold-rolled steel, Spartan complements the galvanizing expertise at Worthington's Delta facility, which galvanizes hot-rolled steel.

Tailor Welded Blanks

TWB Company in Monroe, Mich., Prattville, Ala. and Ramos Arizpe, Hermosillo and Puebla, Mexico, is a joint venture with ThyssenKrupp that produces laser welded blanks for the automotive industry. Laser welding technology enables TWB to fuse steel shapes of different sizes, thicknesses, grades, and coatings into a single, flat steel blank. Automakers use TWB's products to create lighter, stronger, and less costly metal components, such as inner door panels, interior body frames and side rails.

Worthington Armstrong Venture (WAVE)

Worthington Armstrong Venture (WAVE), a joint venture of Worthington and Armstrong World Industries, has established worldwide leadership in production of suspended ceiling systems. WAVE produces metal ceiling grids that can be combined with Armstrong ceiling boards as a complete package or sold individually.

Worthington Modern Steel Framing System Co.

Worthington Modern Steel Framing System Co. is a joint venture with Hubei Modern Urban Construction & Development Group Co., Ltd. of China.  Formed in 2011, the joint venture manufactures light gauge steel framing products and design, engineer and supply light gauge steel-framed mid-rise residential buildings in the Central Chinese provinces of Hubei, Hunan, Henan, Jiangxi and Anhui.  The China joint venture will also supply curtain wall and interior framing solutions for commercial buildings operating out of a facility in Xiantao, near Wuhan, in the Hubei province.

Worthington Nitin Cylinders

Worthington Nitin Cylinders is a 60% Worthington-owned joint venture with Nitin Cylinders Limited.  Located in Visakhapatnam, India, the company manufactures high pressure, seamless steel cylinders for compressed natural gas (CNG) storage in motor vehicles.

Worthington Specialty Processing (WSP)

Worthington Specialty Processing (WSP), a partnership with U.S. Steel, toll processes more than 750,000 tons of wide sheet steel annually for the auto industry. Worthington's first joint venture, established in 1986, WSP has three facilities in Jackson, Canton, and Taylor Michigan.
